Officially the best primary school football team in the country
Longlevens Junior School is officially the best primary school football team in the country!
Year 6s: Will, Charlie, La'Vai, Oscar C, Oscar W and Jacob, as well as Year 5s: Noel, Alex and Dontaye go down in LJS history after winning not one, but two national finals!
On Friday May 17th the boys travelled to Pride Park in Derby after reaching the final round of the ESFA Pokemon Primary Schools cup. After many preliminary tournaments, the team had qualified as one of the top 8 teams in the country to reach the finals- an achievement in itself. On the day the boys battled hard to win their group and qualify for the semi- final. They won the semi-final 1-0 which meant they were through to the final. A straightforward 3-0 victory in the final saw them crowned champions; the best primary school football team in the country!
Following their success at Pride Park, the team then travelled straight to London to prepare for the final of the EFL Utilita Kids Cup at Wembley the following day. After a tour of the stadium and full VIP treatment, the boys took to the famous pitch to compete representing Cheltenham Town against a school representing Port Vale. Another comfortable victory, this time 3-1, saw them crowned champions for the second time in two days!
What the team have achieved is absolutely incredible and they should all be extremely proud of themselves. The whole Longlevens Primary Federation is bursting with pride for them.
