Our Books this term...
'Until I Met Dudley'
Have you ever wondered how a toaster works? Or a fridge-freezer, or a washing-up machine? In this fun-filled book of how things work, Dudley, the techno-wizard dog, provides the answers.
Here are some of our modern inventions and our very individual ideas about how they work...
'A modern fable of Winter's magic.'
Our second book of the term is "Winter's Child."If you are curious about it, read these...
The Selfish Giant
The Selfish Giant has a beautiful garden, but he won't let any of the children play in it.
To introduce the story in 4H, we had a "wall" run through the classroom. This barrier prevented some children from doing things, such as reach their water bottles, while others could do the same thing with ease. We discussed how it made us feel and wrote a short letter to someone on the other side.
Carl missed his friends!
Nathan missed his lunch box!
The children had very mixed reactions to the appearance of the wall. I'm glad it didn't stay for long.
4BW also explored their emotions through drama techniques.
