Saturday 23 September 2023 Well done Jack! Jack in Year 6 has been awarded the BBC Radio Gloucestershire's 'Make a Difference' Green Award for his work on Operation Ocelot with the World Land Trust. Jack is attempting to climb 100 mountains in 50 days. Well done Jack!

Monday 21 November 2022 Children in need The school was awash with spots and colour Friday and the children clearly enjoyed playing their part in helping to improve the lives of so many other children around the world. Thank you for supporting such a worthy cause – we raised an amazing £405.60.

Sunday 6 November 2022 Jack receives a message from Steve Backshall We recently brought you news of Jack Adams (5T) and his fundraising efforts. As a result of Jack's fabulous work, he has received a surprise in the post- Steve Backshall's latest book with a personal note from him and his wife, Helen, as well as a book about the birds in Brazil's Atlantic Rainforest from people who help with the conservation project over there!

Sunday 6 November 2022 Goodbye Mrs Smart After 17 years working at LJS, we said goodbye to Mrs Nikki Smart on Friday. Mrs Smart has been an important member of the admin team and many of you will have met her when coming into reception. She will be sorely missed by all of us here in school, but we wish her the very best of luck.

Thursday 3 November 2022 Poppies for sale We have poppies on sale at school after half term for a minimum donation of 50p. The Poppy Appeal have also provided us with a small selection of rulers, wristbands, button ribbons and keyrings with poppies on that can also be bought for 50p each! Many thanks for your support.

Thursday 13 October 2022 Girls' ESFA 7-a-side tournament Today the girls' football team took part in a tournament at Oxstalls. They played some lovely passing football, (so lovely another school's coach even commented on how well they passed the ball as team)! They played 6 matches in total, won 2 and drew 4. 6 goals scored and 1 conceded. A massive well done to all who played.

Wednesday 5 October 2022 Jack's fundraising Jack Adams (5T) completed his '10 Mountains in 10 Days' challenge during the summer holidays, in aid of Steve Backshall's Operation Ocelot. Jack actually climbed 11 mountains in 10 days, including Snowdon at night to see the sunrise, Cader Idris, Tryfan and other lesser-known mountains in South and North Snowdonia. He has so far raised £952 from this challenge, bringing his overall fundraising total across three challenges so far to just under £2600 for the World Land Trust and its projects. Jack is now moving on to creating wildlife-inspired Christmas card designs to help raise money for the World Land Trust during the autumn/ winter! Lastly, Jack is attending BBC Radio Gloucestershire's Make A Difference award ceremony Saturday 24th September as one of three finalists in the fundraising category.

Wednesday 21 September 2022 Girls' football victory Today (21.9.22) the girls played their first league fixture of the season against Norton Primary. The team played a fantastic passing game and came away 2-0 winners with goals from Honey and Millie.

Firstly our postponed discos will take place on Wednesday 12th October, look out for more details. Save Thursday 3rd November for our amazing joint fireworks event with the infants Our AGM will be held soon and we look forward to seeing new faces and hearing your ideas for the coming year. Plus the Circus is coming! Save the date: 12th May 2023

Saturday 10 September 2022 Staffing update We have a few new faces who have joined our team here at LJS. Mr Sam Keyte has joined us as our Inclusion Lead, working across both the Infant and Junior School. We also welcome new teaching assistants, Mr Jamie Keyes, Mrs Lucy Emerson and Miss Amelia Hatton.

Saturday 10 September 2022 Safeguarding update We have a new Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) at Longlevens Junior School. Mrs Sarah Hopson is now the school’s DSL. Miss Kerry Cunningham & Mrs Sarah Flattery are Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads. The safeguarding governor for the school is Mr Alec Waters.
